Job description
The role is offered on a hybrid basis from Amsterdam, or remote across Germany.
Your Mission
As our Legal Counsel, you will hit the ground running working on all types of legal tasks for our teams located in the Netherlands, France, Germany and Poland. For our go-to-market teams, you will negotiate commercial contracts to help close important customers and take away legal concerns. Other teams you will help by reviewing vendor contracts or advising on legal matters related to data protection, risk management, intellectual property, new features or new projects. Ideally you already have experience within the SaaS/technology industry, speak German or French, and have excellent commercial drafting and negotiation skills. You always make sure to help Tellent and its teams get stuff done within our legal framework and communicate clearly to get your point across.
About the Team
We are a team of 3 based in the Netherlands with offices in Amsterdam, Paris and Poznan that play a crucial role in supporting Tellent’s rapid growth and ensuring that potential legal risks are managed effectively. Our team’s mission is to empower Tellent to be a successful company and help Tellent’s employees to succeed. The key to unlocking this is by building and maintaining a compliant, scalable and flexible (legal) framework for our company to thrive in, while remaining honest and reliable towards our customers, upholding reasonable risk management and also ensuring the legal housekeeping stays up to date. You will report directly to the Director of Legal and work closely with the rest of the legal team and other stakeholders within the organization.
12 month journey
During the first 3 months, you’ll focus on learning everything about Tellent, its software products Recruitee, Javelo and KiwiHR, the legal department roles, workflows and responsibilities, all the Tellent teams, the people and more. You’ll be a fly on the wall for all that happens within the team and the company, take up as much information as possible, ask lots of questions and get to know the in’s and out’s of the legal department. You will also start to work on your first tasks and smaller projects independently.
Within 6 months, you’ll be familiar with Tellent, its teams, its people, and the way of working of the legal department and be able to perform tasks and projects independently with confidence. You’ll be able to perform tasks effectively to increase the department’s productivity and alleviate the workload of the team members.
After 1 year, you’ll be a full contributor to the legal department and have in-depth knowledge of its processes and responsibilities. You’ll be able to do much of your tasks fully independent and be able to contribute to ongoing legal matters that may arise. In addition, you’ll be able to work with other team members on ongoing company projects and proactively take part in discussions on legal matters that concern Tellent or on the workings of the legal department.
What you’ll do:
You will take the lead on reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts with customers, suppliers and other third parties.
You will provide information to internal stakeholders about contracts, terms and conditions, legal and compliance and offer advice to keep Tellent as scalable and flexible as possible.
You will perform vendor reviews and application reviews in line with company policies.
You will, together with the rest of the legal team, work on creating and maintaining scalable and compliant business practices and help to improve legal department processes.
You will, together with the rest of the legal team, work on company projects and on specific legal projects to help Tellent become more successful.
