Job description
Your Mission:
As an IT Automation Engineer, you enable Tellent to scale and operate efficiently by streamlining workflows, automating repetitive tasks, and ensuring that our IT ecosystem runs smoothly across all departments. You design, implement, and maintain automation solutions that reduce manual effort and increase reliability in areas such as employee onboarding/offboarding, SaaS integrations, access management, and infrastructure provisioning.
You develop scripts and automations that improve system monitoring, configuration management, and service delivery. Where possible, you replace manual IT support processes with self-service and automated solutions, while still assisting business departments with more complex needs and recurring company-wide events.
In addition, you contribute to the technical management of our global office infrastructure by applying standardization wherever possible. You collaborate daily with the Tellent Information Security Team to enforce security baselines, automate compliance checks, and ensure devices and services remain aligned with security requirements.
About the team:
1 Team Lead (also the internal Information Security Officer) based in The Netherlands (mostly remote), and 1 IT Engineer in Poznan PL.
Your 12-month journey:
During the first 3 months: The focus will be on getting to know Tellent and our technical tool sets. We will run you through our configurations, regular checks that we perform, and create clarity on the IT responsibilities so that you’re fully familiarized with our ways of working. We will put a lot of emphasis on our ticketing system, and how we currently document our various tasks and projects. To support you during this process you will work closely together with our other IT Operations Engineer(s) and will follow our written-out procedures.
The goal for the first three months is to ramp up your knowledge so that you can independently handle most incoming requests and begin building and maintaining automation solutions that support daily IT operations.
Within 6 months: Once familiar with our daily operations the role will incorporate more project based work. This means that you will be helping Tellent transition from a relatively manual operating business into an automation-first IT organization that scales with our global workforce. This includes identifying repetitive or time-consuming processes, designing automation to eliminate inefficiencies, and ensuring IT operations remain reliable, secure, and operating smoothly. While some of these projects are challenging, you’ll be supported strategically and tactically to ensure our automation aligns with business needs.
After 1 year: By this point, the majority of recurring tasks are automated, and your focus is on optimizing workflows, improving system reliability, and aligning automation initiatives with Tellent’s evolving business needs. You’ll be driving efficiency through metrics and KPIs, ensuring IT operations not only scale but also provide clear insights into performance and impact.
What you’ll be doing:
While the primary responsibility is to handle day-to-day IT requests and processes, there is also a clear secondary focus on automation. Once you’re comfortable with the operational aspects, you’ll take on project-based initiatives to automate repetitive tasks and streamline IT workflows.
Operational (initial focus):
Handling incoming IT requests within SLA, reprioritizing where needed
Supporting the ordering, configuration, and replacement of employee end-user devices
Creating and managing user accounts for core apps (Google Workspace, Slack, VPN, etc.)
Running new joiner device setup sessions, including introducing security expectations
Managing offboarding tasks such as account closures, data transfers, and device returns
Automation (secondary focus, project-based):
Designing and implementing automated workflows for device provisioning and replacement
Automating account creation, onboarding, and offboarding processes
Automation of Patch Management via MDM (Jamf)
Building self-service solutions to reduce dependency on manual IT support
Continuously identifying and implementing opportunities to automate recurring IT tasks, improving efficiency and consistency
Over time, the responsibilities and scope of work can expand to support other departments with their technical needs, where automation and IT expertise can add value.
What you’ll bring to the team:
IT Help Desk or Ticket based work experience
Experience working with Google Workspace (from an administrative point of view)
Apple based mobile-device-management experience
Experience in scripting / basic programming / no-code platforms such as N8N, Zapier, Make.
ITIL or other IT Service Desk framework experience or certifications
Basic knowledge of security baselines such as ISO 27001
Flexibility, creativity, and focus on delivering solutions that work for every stakeholder involved
“Yes, let’s figure out how”-mindset
A technical solution for Development might not work for employees in Marketing, or our tools might not (yet) suit our needs resulting in the need to think of interim solutions
We might need to bend some rules (e.g. by adjusting policies or allowing well-reasoned exceptions)
Be thorough in documenting
This applies to closing tasks/tickets and writing internal documentation but also in communication to others. We need to be clear on our decision making so others understand why sometimes things could be a yes or a no.
Get enjoyment out of being hands-on and to implement solutions.
